PRIETI VAID

As a qualified primary school teacher, Prieti Vaid’s interest in nutrition grew as she took care of her parents. She was always curious about how food and the human body are intertwined and wanted to learn more about the relations between the two.

In 2006, she participated in a Nine Week Nutrition Programme at THAC. Her admiration for Dr. Vijaya Venkat, and the passion she emulated for the subject attracted Prieti further towards this field. She saw the change in her own health and her father’s health as she applied her learnings to her daily life. One of Prieti’s strongest skills is to walk the talk truthfully.

The subject continued to intrigue her and she joined THAC in January 2007.

She started her THAC journey by helping out with administrative work at the Centre. Prieti’s interest in Vedanta and ability in Iyengar Yoga helped her connect the breath and the mind to the structure and digestive roles of the body. This ability, along with her fluency in Hindi, Gujarati and understanding of Marathi opened up a place for her as a facilitator for THAC’s classes, workshops and the Program that trains cooks. Under her wing and expertise, THAC could create new, specialized de-activation sessions which are different from pranayama or yoga. The focus here, is on the mindfulness of pausing and relaxing. Clients and students who come to THAC are encouraged, supported and guided in the de-activation process, which works and aims to recharge the vital energy of the organic body.

De-activation has become a way of living for so many in THAC’s community. Prieti has facilitated every stage of THAC’s growth by integrating more aspects into it, through sensory relaxation or lymphatic drainage.

Prieti is who we turn to, for easy, loving, open communication. Her friendly and welcoming attitude allows clients to approach her without hesitation. Her unwavering commitment to instil self-esteem in her clients is what she sees as her most rewarding role at THAC.
